Our Story

Established in 1977, the company's purpose from the outset was to focus on anticorrosive protection.

In just a few years, the value of Montaco's work was recognized by the market, and its influence spread across the mainland, islands, and even internationally.

Anticorrosive protection was the starting point, but Montaco is now acknowledged for its highly technical work in the most demanding industries and sectors, where the performance of applied coatings has a direct impact on the reliability and durability of the protected material goods.

Thus, a few years later, during the 1980s, Montaco also dedicated itself to the rehabilitation, reinforcement, and protection of reinforced concrete structures, as well as the rehabilitation of buildings and equipment in an industrial context.

Here too, with dedication and proficiency, the company earned the well-deserved recognition of partners and clients, making it today one of the largest and most successful national companies in its field of operation.

Our Story

From early on, Montaco has been present in major national projects:

1977
Establishment of MONTACO, initially with 7 partners, all from the anticorrosive protection sector.

1979
MONTACO experiences rapid growth, surpassing a workforce of over 200 specialized workers in anticorrosive protection just two years after its foundation.

2000
Acquisition of new facilities in Leça do Balio, Matosinhos.

2001
Commencement of the anticorrosive protection workshop, equipped with abrasive jet stripping booth, metallization, and painting.

2007
PME Excellence Award. Performance award granted by IAPMEI.

2008
PME Excellence Award. Performance award granted by IAPMEI.

2009
PME Excellence Award. Performance award granted by IAPMEI.

2009
Implementation of an integrated management system under ISO 9001:2008, ISO 14001:2008, and OHSAS 18001:2007 standards. Certification under ISO 9001:2008.

2009
Completion of the first major project, utilizing hydroblasting UHP as the surface preparation method. Development and construction of a mobile industrial wastewater treatment station.

2010
Transition from a limited liability company to a public limited company.
